Welleadz Mecha Panda Mini Building Blocks Review
Dracos Toy Space
Table of contents
Among the new mecha building block releases, Welleadz’s Mecha Panda undoubtedly stands out. Featuring a maintenance platform and console hangar, panda-themed design, a cockpit that fits a minifigure, intricately detailed exterior armor, and a somewhat structured interior, this product distinguishes itself from previous similar offerings.
Packages
The configuration gives off a bit of a “Master Builder” vibe.
Separate Bags for Each Steps
The steps are divided into separate bags, but not too finely. Each section contains quite a lot of bricks.
Instruction Manual
Basic Construction Setup
Adjustable platform
The internal structure is quite detailed, and the cockpit in the head can accommodate a minifigure.
The inside of the chest resembles a central computer or an energy device.
Minifigures
One pilot and three maintenance crew members.
Overall Display
Even with mini bricks, the finished product has a substantial sense of volume.
The dimensions are 24 cm by 19.7 cm.
Rich in content and structurally complete
The Mecha Panda
The mecha stands 21 cm tall.
Both the chest and the head can be opened.
The material of these mini bricks is already somewhat soft, and combined with my long-standing criticism of the top-heavy design, the use of various flimsy movable joints in the lower body makes the mecha quite unstable from the waist down. While it still has a range of motion, it’s not very easy to play with.
Finished Product Display
Overall, this product has many highlights. The accompanying hangar and multiple minifigures create a scene-like atmosphere. The panda design is both majestic and Chinese culturally rich, and the internal structures like the cockpit are well-executed. However, it suffers from the common issue of many appearance-focused brick mechas: inadequate support and stability in the leg joints. Hopefully, future products will sacrifice some articulation and playability for better static features, like adding light-up elements.
Although our friend Dracos Toy Space thinks the Mecha Panda still has some flaws, I believe it looks nearly perfect! As a mini building block set, I think it’s a perfect blend of intricacy and grandeur!
